Discover Top Activities To Do Near Boston

It’s summertime, which means prime season for weekend jaunts and full-flung vacation trips out of the great city of Boston. If you’re casting about for a good place to escape to for a few days (or a few weeks!), look no further than Lexington, Massachusetts: a mere 15 miles outside of Boston, steeped in some of the nation’s truly formative history, and putting a wonderful platter of indoor and outdoor activities at your fingertips.

And when it comes to the best place to stay in Lexington, well, you’ve found it right here at the Inn at Hastings Park! We offer stylish luxury guestrooms and suites in the heart of this historically momentous town, making us the perfect choice for an easy-to-reach getaway outside Boston.

Things to Do In & Around Lexington, MA

Perched every so comfortably here at the Inn at Hastings Park, you’ll be utterly spoiled for choices when it comes to things to do and see.

Without question, historical sightseeing is foremost on the activities list on a Lexington getaway, though that kind of virtual time travel is far from the only pursuit to enjoy as a guest of ours. You’re just a short stroll, for one thing, from the Lexington Battle Green, where the “shot heard round the world” helped launch the American Revolution on April 19, 1775. The Minute Man National Historical Park preserves much of the geography of the ensuing Battles of Lexington and Concord, offering walking trails, historic landmarks, guided ranger programs, and reenactments to bring the story alive.

It’s not all about the American Revolution when it comes to historical sightseeing from your Inn at Hastings Park guestroom or suite. After all, you’ll find yourself close to a number of historic homes of formative American figures, including the onetime abodes of such Transcendentalist writers and thinkers as Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

And you’re also just a stone’s throw from Walden Pond State Reservation, where you can enjoy the same serene glacially scoured waterbody that inspired Henry David Thoreau to write a seminal classic of philosophy and world literature.

Walden Pond’s a fine place for a stroll or a swim, and far from the only such destination appealing to outdoor recreation-minded guests of ours. Take a kayak or canoe out for a paddling jaunt on the Concord River, hike and birdwatch among the wetlands fringing the Concord and Sudbury flows in the Great Meadows Wildlife Refuge (part of the Eastern Massachusetts National Wildlife Refuge Complex), or go cycling on the 11-mile-long Minuteman Bikeway—we’ve got bicycles and helmets available here at the Inn at Hastings Park!

So Much More to Enjoy on an Inn at Hastings Park Stay Just a Stone’s Throw From Boston

From concerts by the Lexington Symphony to restaurant- and brewery-hopping, there’s much more to do around town on an Inn at Hastings Park getaway. So book your guestroom or suite at our Inn, set in the heart of the “Birthplace of American Liberty” and offering the perfect mini-vacation outside of Boston!
